    Beloit Junior Bandits go 1-1 to start 16U Watertown Regional play

    WATERTOWN, Wis. — The Beloit Junior Legion Bandits split its first two games in the 16U Watertown Regional.

    Jaxon Walenga went 5-for-5, but Beloit fell to Germantown 14-10 on Friday. The Junior Bandits then blanked Oconomowoc Gold 10-0 on Saturday.

    The Bandits outhit Germantown 16-11, but never fully caught up after falling behind 9-0. Walenga had a pair of doubles and scored two runs. Austin Driver, Carter Middleton, Willmy Henriquez and Hayden Wells all had two hits and both Henriquez and Will. Erickson knocked in two runs each.

    Middleton started and took the loss. Three Beloit pitchers combined to allow 11 bases on balls.

    Walenga stayed hot in Saturday’s win, going 3-for-3, including a single in the first inning when Beloit jumped in front 5-0. The Bandits tacked on two runs in the third and single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth, outhitting Oconomowoc 9-4.

    Walenga had runs scored and an RBI. Tayvon Cates was also 3-for-3 for Beloit with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Erickson chipped in a double.

    Walenga pitched a complete game 4-hitter for the victory, walking two and striking out nine.

    Beloit was in action on Sunday, but no results were reported before presstime.
