CoJo Celebrates Birthday by Announcing New Charity Event

Cody Johnson was enjoying a day of sunshine and roping on his birthday. He even had some news to share with fans. With a whole line of team roping horses saddled and in the background, Johnson took to social media to ask fans and fellow ropers to "Save the Date."

October 15-19, 2024, should be marked off the calendars of team ropers all over the United States.  The Cody Johnson Championship will be held in Belton, Texas and will offer a variety of ropings and charity events.

According to CoJo, the headline event will be the Cody Johnson Open, which will mimic the setup of the old George Strait Classic Team Roping.

With team roping offerings for a variety of skill levels, a golf tournament, and a "Champs for Charity" gala, Johnson aims to raise a lot of money for charity.

"I've been working on this for a couple of years, trying to get everything put together. I am extremely excited about this. So, save the date," CoJo announced.

Johnson is well known around the rodeo world as a country music superstar, but he is also known for being a competitor in the team roping. The 2023 iHeart Radio Best New Country Artist doesn't seem to just "do" something. If he sets his mind to it, he does the task well. Team roping is no different. In February, he picked up the win at the Mathews Land and Cattle World Series of Team Roping Qualifier.

Johnson will still be busy on tour when the new roping event kicks off. He will arrive from a show in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 12, fit the roping in a few days, and then be off to Houston, Texas, for two more nights of shows.

No doubt, fans will be wondering if CoJo will break out his guitar during the festivities or if he will "just" be a team roper for a few days of his life this year.

Whether he does or not, his track record of taking on challenges will prove this to be a successful event.
