BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) – From pizza to pork chops, to country music to monster trucks.
Organizers of the Boone County Fair say there’s something for everyone at the six-day event, which is now less than a month away.
“They’ll be crushing cars,” Tom Ratcliffe, the fair’s advertising director, said of the monster truck show that’s happening Wednesday, Aug. 7, in the grandstand . “We’ve got cars they’re gonna crush with the trucks. They’ll be doing jumps.”
The DCT Powersports monster truck show is new in 2024. It will feature the popular Maximums, Dirt Crew, Dirt Crew Dozer and Block Head.
Other grandstand events include the Queen and Little Miss pageants, professional bull riding and two demolition derby shows.
On Saturday, Aug. 10, country music artist Scott McCreery will headline the grandstand stage. Greylan James will open.
“They’re going to put on a great show,” Ratcliffe said. “He’s got a new album out, ‘Rise and Fall,’ which is doing really well. And he’s getting a lot of attention with the from the critics.”
Tom Ratcliffe said perennial favorite food vendors like the Cosmopolitan Club Sweet Corn Boone County Fire Protection District 2, which has been selling doughnuts at the fair since 1978, will be back, with a host of others that are too many to count.
“We’ve got barbecue, we’ve got Japanese, big turkey legs, you could go on,” he said. “You could eat for six days.”
The fair is open Aug. 6-11.
