The Mavericks are opening their 99th season of football this season with a trip to Texas. CMU enters the season with 491 program wins including their very first win that came on October 24, 1925. Football Recap: Odem Starts Season with Win at Home
Odem gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed by the Ben Bolt Badgers at home to the tune of 47-20. Odem got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Martin Castillo out in front who rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Castillo's longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another rusher making a difference was John Hinojosa, who rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
