Man facing felony charges for false reports in Mathews County
MATHEWS COUNTY, Va. — A man is facing felony charges for making false reports to law enforcement officers, the Mathews County Sheriff's Office said. According to police, Randal James Diggs was arrested for making multiple phone calls to the Sheriff’s Office 911 Center. Between July and August, Diggs made threats toward a specific population in the community based solely on their race over a recorded phone line.
5 gang members plead guilty after woman’s 2023 abduction, murder
YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Five gang members have now pleaded guilty after a woman was abducted in Richmond and murdered in York County back in 2023. The Department of Justice announced Thursday that Hezekiah Carney, of Norfolk; Jamica Langley, of Richmond; Donnisha Goodman, of Portsmouth; and Acacia Jackson, of New York; and Resident resident Jayquan Jones all pleaded guilty to federal charges in the case. All were linked to the Black P. Stone Nation gang.
Newport News man receives two years for possessing stolen credit cards
A Newport News man has entered into a plea agreement stemming from a credit card larceny and will now spend the next two years in jail. Zayon Lavon Robinson, 40, of the 200 block of Susan Constant Drive, entered an Alford Plea of Guilt to one count each of credit card larceny, misdemeanor obstruction of justice, and misdemeanor driving suspended as part of Aug. 27 proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court. One charge of assault on a law enforcement officer was dropped as part of the plea deal. An Alford Plea of Guilt indicates while the defendant maintains his innocence, evidence presented in the case would be enough to convict the defendant of the crimes.

Two charged after Yorktown stabbing
YORKTOWN, Va. — Two people have been arrested and charged with maiming following an incident Friday at the Yorktown Motor Lodge. Deputies responded to a call of a disturbance at the motor lodge, according to a Facebook post from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office. When deputies arrived, they found an adult victim with a stab wound who was transported to a hospital with injuries not deemed life-threatening, the Facebook post stated.
