    For skiers, Bend’s most exciting aspect might be its proximity to some notable ski destinations, including Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort and Hoodoo Ski Area. It’s important to fuel up with a bite to eat before and after the slopes so we found a few restaurants with skier-friendly prices so you can save those pennies for the slopes.

    The McKay Cottage, which lives in the bones of a relocated 1916 craftsman bungalow, originally opened as a breakfast and lunch restaurant in 2006.

    This restaurant serves breakfast throughout its hours of operation—perfect for the early bird skiers interested in a bite before skiing or breakfast-loving skiers looking for an affordable fix to their cravings.

    Taste test sweet options on the breakfast menu like Mama’s cinnamon toast made by dipping cinnamon swirled bread in “Mama’s secret batter” for $16, or the Strawberry Crêpes made with Chantilly cream, fresh strawberries, and your choice of either organic vanilla yogurt or homemade whipped cream for $17.

    Savory options on the breakfast menu include the Baja Chicken hash stack, which costs $22 and is made with pulled chicken, potato, cheddar cheese, salsa, poached egg, hollandaise, and crispy corn tortillas.

    While Jackson’s Corner opened its doors in 2008, the building’s original use was as Delaware Grocery, estimated to have been built in the early 1920s.

    This restaurant offers grab-and-go, coffee, and grocery options perfect for grabbing on your way to the mountain, but you can also count on Jackson’s for tasty sit-down meals at brunch and supper.

    On its brunch menu , Jackson’s provides tasty dishes like the Breaky Sammy made with a folded egg, sharp white cheddar, lemon aioli, arugula, and M’s Bakery sweet bun for $10 (add pork sausage patty or bacon for +$4), and the steak hot sandwich 2T Sustainable steak, griddled onions, mozzarella, blue cheese mayo, arugula and M’s Bakery slab bread with a choice of either chips or side salad for $19.

    Jackson’s supper menu includes sourdough pizzas, hand-rolled pasta, small plates, signature salads, and general entrées. For a carb-based dish, try the Gemilli + Sunday Gravy pasta made with shaved Parmigiano, traditional braised meat sauce, and olive oil for $24.     J-DUB restaurant offers two menus : breakfast and lunch and dinner.

    Enjoy savory breakfast options here, including the J-DUB classic breakfast tacos made with home fries, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage gravy on three hybrid tortillas for $14. If you’re interested in something sweet, try the blueberry French toast--two pieces of thick-cut Texas toast with blueberry compote, powdered sugar, and whipped cream for $15.

    The restaurant’s lunch and dinner menu also has full meal options like a pesto mac for $15 and fish and chips for $19.

    Aside from its human menu, J-DUB restaurant has a special Pup Menu crafted especially for dogs.

    If you have kids, J-DUB offers $5 kids menu options with perfect names like “I Don’t Know” (chicken strips and fries), “I’m Not Hungry” (mac & cheese), and “I Don’t Want That” (grilled cheese and fries).

    The menu at Dang’s Vietnamese Restaurant consists of six sections: appetizers, Dang’s Specials, Pho, Vietnamese sandwiches, rice vermicelli bowls, and rice platters.

    The Row offers three menus: breakfast, lunch and dinner, and après ski.

    The Row’s après ski menu, served from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily while Mt. Bachelor is open, offers great post-ski drinks, meals, and snack options to refuel after a long day on the mountain. Order options like the house-cut fries made by toasting potatoes in fresh herbs, kosher salt, and pepper for $6 or the fried pub wings tossed in either ghost chili, sweet BBQ sauce, or house buffalo sauce for $8.

    Additionally, you can grab 10 ounces of draft beer for $5 each, craft cans of beer for $5 each, cocktails like the house margarita for $7 each, and a glass of the listed wines by the glass for $8.

    Notable meal options on the breakfast menu include the breakfast Pub Cakes, three pancakes served with whipped butter, syrup, and sausage links or bacon, at $16 for a full stack and $12 for a short stack.     Owner and chef Gonzalo Morales, who moved to Bend from Tlaxcala in Central Mexico in the late 1980s, opened Los Jalapeños restaurant in 1994 —meaning that this restaurant has been in operation for 30 years.

    Los Jalapeños offers customers pick-up, delivery, and dine-in options. This means skiers can grab a bite on the way to the mountain, order delivery after a long ski day, or go on for a cozy sit-down meal.

    If you’re looking to indulge in some popular items at the restaurant , the Los Jalapeños website lists its number one most popular item as the shredded pork burrito, which costs $11.50; its number two most popular item as the chicken burrito, which costs $12.25; and the number three most popular item as the shredded pork taco, which costs $3.95 each.

    You can also check out other tasty menu options, like the combo burrito, which costs $14.50 and includes rice, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and your choice of beans and protein, or Jose’s Supreme Nachos, which costs $15.55 and includes olives, guacamole, cheese, jalapeños, and your choice of meat.

    Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort is a 4,323-acre winter wonderland in central Oregon, about 22 miles from Bend. With a vertical drop of 3,665 feet, 101 runs, and 12 lifts (plus three carpets), there’s more than enough terrain to explore.

    Mt. Bachelor has 19 percent beginner terrain, 55 percent intermediate, 22 percent advanced, and 3 percent expert—meaning that roughly half of the mountain is slated for intermediate skiers, while another 25 percent is for expert and advanced skiers.

    Hoodoo Ski Area

    Hoodoo Ski Area, located around 44 miles from Bend, has around 800 skiable acres and 1,035 feet of vertical drop to discover. This resort is home to 36 total runs and six lifts, and the terrain distribution is 19 percent beginner, 42 percent intermediate, 31 percent advanced, and 8 percent expert.

    If you’re interested in night skiing, Hoodoo Ski Area offers roughly 500 acres of night-skiing terrain from Wednesday through Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. until late March.

    Hoodoo Ski Area offers several regular-season one-day lift ticket options, all priced according to the time you’d like to spend on the mountain.
