Host homes sought by local nonprofit agency for exchange students ahead of 2024/25 school year
EUGENE, Ore. – A local nonprofit is asking for urgent help finding host homes for exchange students heading to the U.S. for the upcoming school year. Education Travel and Culture is a local nonprofit that promotes cultural exchange programs all across the state of Oregon. Right now, the organization said 40 exchange students still need host families. They’re all high school students looking to immerse themselves in a new culture by attending and studying at an American school. Students come from a variety of places, including the countries of Europe, Asia, and South America, and host families get to help choose their student based off of similar interests and personality traits. ETC also provides support to host families throughout the entire process.

I-5 reopens after lengthy closure due to crash Thursday morning
As of noon, Interstate 5 southbound was reopened after being closed Thursday morning due to a major crash. At one point all lanes of the highway in both directions were shut down early on Thursday, Aug. 22 due to a crash near the Donald Road interchange.
