A local man has been arrested for the fatal shooting of Jose Miguel Tenorio-Ruiz, 40, on July 6, at building 7 in Bucks Meadows Apartments, 3131 Knights Road, Bensalem. Bensalem Police were called to the complex at 5:48 p.m., responding to a 9-1-1 call for a shooting. As police arrived, Tenorio-Ruiz was lying near the rear parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. Officers immediately began life-saving measures until EMS arrived. He was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital by Bensalem EMS and was pronounced dead a short time later. The person who shot the victim had fled the scene before police arrived.

Lenape Valley Foundation Golf Outing raises $66,500
Lenape Valley Foundation hosted its 15th annual Golf Outing on June 17, at Doylestown Country Club. The event, co-chaired by LVF board members Robert Marchand and Joseph Nolan, attracted 131 golfers and raised more than $66,500. Proceeds from this year’s event will support the opening of the Bright Path Center, a new behavioral health crisis center in Doylestown that will greatly improve the environment and quality of care for children, adults and families who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis. The center’s groundbreaking took place in May and it is scheduled to open in 2025.

BCWSA removes PFAS from drinking water with first-of-its-kind technology
The Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority announced that it has successfully utilized innovative treatment technology to remove PFAS, known as forever chemicals, from its drinking water. The new treatment system was recently piloted at two water supply locations that had slightly elevated PFAS levels above the PA Department of Environmental Protection’s regulation.
Bensalem Township Community Park has limited hours through Aug. 1
Now through Aug. 1, the Bensalem Township Community Park, 4301 Richlieu Road, will be closed to the public Mondays through Thursdays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. This includes all foot traffic, as well as any and all vehicles. The closure also includes the lower parking lots.
Penn Community Bank grant supports Bucks Co. Housing Group food program
Penn Community Bank has partnered with the Bucks County Housing Group to help provide critically-needed items to area food pantries. The $5,000 contribution will support the ability to purchase both fresh and non-perishable food for the organization’s Food Program, including two community food pantries and two mobile markets that bring the food pantry experience to locations lacking regular pantry access.
