JJ’s Star Spangled Salute: A Halstead Native Serves His Country In The Navy
Today, we salute Lt. Cmdr. Michael Flanigan. Michael, a native of Halstead, serves the U.S. Navy assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 142 at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Michael graduated from Halstead High School in 2005. He graduated from Kansas State University in 2010. The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Halstead. Michael said, ““Growing up, I learned that if you want something, you have to work hard for it.” Michael joined the Navy 14 years ago. Today, he serves as a pilot and maintenance officer for the squadron, flying an EA-18G Growler – a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft and the cornerstone of the naval Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) mission. Thank you for making Halstead proud Michael and THANK YOU for your service.
