BENWOOD, W.Va. (WTRF) — The Benwood Fire Department experienced an eventful Father’s Day on Sunday after battling a truck fire during the morning and still having time to show community support at a Marshall County event this afternoon.

According to the BFD , Engine 1301 and Command 1307 were dispatched to the 1400 block of Marshall Street at 10:37 a.m. for a fully engulfed vehicle fire.

With the assistance of the McMechen Volunteer Fire Department, crews were able to contain the blaze within 15 minutes of arriving on the scene.

Officials say there were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is unknown.

After extinguishing the fire, the BFD says crews returned to the station to get ready for a community event in Moundsville.

Officials say they were invited by the Marshall County Caring Tree to attend and show off equipment/trucks at the Moundsville Community Day.
