Harler credits deep rotation to Best Virginia success
An old adage alleges that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. For Best Virginia, there isn’t too much concern amongst the team about the strength of their chain. That’s because, according to WVU basketball alum and Best Virginia head coach Chase Harler, there are “no liabilities” on the roster.

Former WVU shooter Mary Tucker takes aim at the gold in Paris
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A National Champion shooter at West Virginia University will make a second attempt at shooting for gold in the upcoming Paris Olympic Games. Mary Tucker, who spent her last two seasons of NCAA Rifle in Morgantown, will shoot the smallbore, air rifle, and mixed team events at the Paris games. It’s Tucker’s second Olympics. She qualified for all three events in Tokyo as well.
Weekend concerts strike a chord in downtown Parkersburg
PARKERSBURG — Downtown Parkersburg was full of opportunities for fun Saturday and Sunday. The Parkersburg Art Center (PAC) and the Blennerhassett Hotel and Spa both held events this weekend that offered attendees music, good food and more. The PAC held its annual Tastes and Tunes event and the Blennerhassett hosted its two-day Summer Bash at the Blenny event which featured Nashville recording artist Nick Walker, on Saturday and Sunday as well as live music, shopping, food, beverages and more.

Many attended to hear from local organizations, Mary H. WVU’s golf program will be well represented at this year’s U.S. Amateur Golf Championship. West Virginia native Todd Duncan became the third Mountaineer golfer to qualify for the sport’s top amateur event. Duncan shot -5 (65) in the first and only round of the Southeastern Amateur qualifying tournament at Country Club of Columbus golf course in Columbus, Georgia.

Northeast Ohio gets federal funding to go big on solar power expansion
New solar power projects are soon to come to Northeast Ohio following the awarding of a more than $129 million federal grant for renewable energy. The funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection agency is the largest grant awarded to Cuyahoga County since it adopted the charter form of government in 2011, Cuyghoga Green Energy Administrator Mike Foley said. The funds will be used to remediate brownfields and transform them into solar energy hubs.

West Virginia highlights importance of back-to-school vaccines
For the upcoming school year, all children entering school in West Virginia grades K-12 must show proof of immunization against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B unless a medical exemption is approved by DH.
