The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 1 at 2365 South Shore Drive East in Frankfort. The event is free and will feature a full barbecue lunch, live music, activities for all ages and tours of the facilities. The conference center is located on the shores of Crystal Lake and is owned by Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Michigan Region. Founded in 1917 as the Crystal Beach Christian Assembly, the center began when the Ann Arbor Railroad granted the Michigan Association of Christian Churches 168 acres to develop a retreat and summer cottages for its members. Throughout the years, the center expanded its offerings, adding various venues and opening its facilities to a wider audience beyond the church community. In the 1970s, it underwent a name change to the Crystal Conference Center and transferred ownership of 72 cottages to individual members, while maintaining the majority of the land as a camp, retreat and natural wooded area. The conference center <a href="https://www.recordpatriot.com/local-news/article/Crystal-Lake-Conference-Center-celebrates-100th-14325886.php" rel="nofollow"> celebrated its 100 th anniversary in 2018. </a> Today, the center is not only a hub for church-related activities, offering a comprehensive summer program of camps for different age groups, but it also welcomes a diverse range of guests. It serves as a rental venue for yoga retreats, wedding celebrations, family reunions and events for other religious and nonprofit groups. The Crystal Conference Center is developing a master plan for a multi-phase capital project, which includes upgrading existing facilities and constructing new ones. <a href="https://www.recordpatriot.com/news/article/crystal-lake-camp-due-updates-100-years-17801688.php" rel="nofollow"> In previous reports </a> , the camp director said winterization and maintenance were some of the improvements being planned, along with a ropes course or amphitheater overlooking Crystal Lake. </div></body>
