<div> The Benzie Area Symphony Orchestra will present a special program in Corson Auditorium at 4 p.m. on Aug. 18. The concert will feature pianist Dr. Hyemin Kim, performing Sergei Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in c minor. “The Rachmaninov second piano concerto is one of the most luscious, emotive pieces ever written, and is also one of the most virtuosic for the piano,” BASO conductor Tom Riccobono said. “It is incredibly challenging to perform, but Hyemin plays it with ease, artistry, and mastery. It is such a pleasure to have a guest soloist of her caliber to play with the Benzie Symphony.” Kim is a collaborative pianist at Interlochen Center for the Arts and has performed widely as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative pianist. She has previously been invited to perform with several orchestras, including Philharmonischen Solisten Bratislava (Mozart Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus, Austria) and Archi Chamber Orchestra (Sungsan Art Hall, South Korea). She also had invitation performances from Youngsan Grace Hall, Daejeon Culture and Art Foundation (Korea); Bad Goisern Landesmusikschule, Panmusica Austria, Landesverband Steiermark (Austria); and Beacon Hill at Eastgate (USA). In addition to Rachmaninov, the orchestra will perform Ottorino Respighi’s most famous and soaring score, "The Pines of Rome." Donations to the orchestra help support its continued operations in Benzie County and beyond. There is a suggested donation of $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and free for anyone 17 or under.
