(Submitted photo/Jack Harnish) </figcaption></figure> On&nbsp;Aug. 10, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Beulah celebrated the installation of the Rev. Chip Russell as the new rector for the congregation. Rev. Canon&nbsp;Nurya Parish, the supervisor for the Episcopal Churches in the Northern Collaborative of Michigan, was present to invest Father Chip with his new assignment. “We have come together today to welcome&nbsp;Fr. Chip Russell, who has been chosen to serve as Rector of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church," Parish said. "We believe he is well qualified and that he has been prayerfully and lawfully selected.” Then she asked the congregation, “Will you who witness this new beginning support and uphold Chip in this ministry?” and with a bold voice the congregation offered a joyful, “We will!” The sermon for the installation was given by Rev. Anne Hallmark, retired Episcopal priest, who has provided leadership during the two years they have been without a pastor. She thanked the congregation for their hard work and diligent service while awaiting the coming of a new priest. Father Chip is a native of southern Michigan and comes to Benzie County after serving a parish in Virginia. A graduate of Texas Lutheran College and Virginia Episcopal Seminary, he is not a stranger to the area having attended Camp Arcadia as a youth. He says he loves the dunes and Cherry Hut pie. In his video message to the congregation, he said, “I’m excited to get to know St. Phillips. I believe God’s love revealed in Jesus comes to us in community. For me that means taking time getting to know you and joining with you in your ministry.” Father Chip became a priest after working in the IT industry, which deeply informs his perspective and ministry. His bio says, “You’ll find him spending his free time reading science fiction or engaged in various tech-related hobbies.” Members of the congregation presented him with gifts including the Bible, a tray of vegetables representing feeding the hungry, keys to the church symbolizing the church’s willingness to receive all people, and a container of baby formula in recognition of the Baby Pantry ministry. Canon Parish said, “Let these be signs of the ministry which is yours in this place.” In the closing hymn, the congregation sang, “Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.” </div></body>
