The <a href="https://www.benzieco.gov/government/board_of_commissioners/index.php" rel="nofollow"> Benzie County Board of Commissioners </a> unanimously&nbsp;voted in an Aug. 13 meeting to hold a public hearing on the proposed changes. The public hearing will be held sometime after 9 a.m. on Nov. 12 during the board of commissioners meeting&nbsp;at the Benzie County Government Center located at 448 Court Place in Beulah. The time between Aug. 13 and the Nov. 12 meeting will serve as a mandatory 63-day comment period on the addendum to the master plan. "We are now to the point where we have a final addendum draft of our updated master plan," said county administrator Katie Zeits. The master plan includes a roadmap for future development in the county, according to the 2017 plan. It takes into account natural resources, county organizations; township, city and village governments; and nonprofit organizations. The master plan is usually updated by a county’s planning commission, but because Benzie County does not have a planning commission, the board appointed a subcommittee to recommend updates. <a href="https://www.recordpatriot.com/news/article/benzie-county-plans-public-hearing-master-plan-19605167.php" rel="nofollow"> In previous reports, Zeits said the update is not a “big one” </a> because the county is in the middle of several large projects which will change the scope of the master plan in the future. Zeits said the committee reviewed the plan and updated it from a sense of updating statistics and data, including census data. The update also offers an addendum to the master plan that ties in some of the current projects with the 2017 master plan’s vision. Highlights of the addendum include potential holistic approaches to planning and zoning, as well as a look at parks and recreation and public land. Plans to ensure the resilience of the county when it comes to the future state and federal funding are part of the plan as well. Updates to the the county's infrastructure&nbsp;are included.
