Bowling Green man convicted on terrorism charges after working with 2 WKU students to join ISIS
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Bowling Green man was convicted on multiple terrorism charges and he was working with two Western Kentucky University students at the time. A federal jury convicted Mirsad Ramic, 34, last month for his involvement with ISIS. Court documents show Ramic and the two WKU students all left the U.S. to support ISIS back in 2014. They purchased one-way tickets out of Nashville and ended up in Gaziantep, Turkey, near the Syrian border, court documents show.
The City of Madisonville Hosts First Ever ‘Illuminated’ Hot Air Balloon Show
Fun news from Madisonville, Kentucky. At the end of next month, the city will host, for the first time ever, a hot air balloon show called Madisonville Illuminated. The event is reminiscent of a balloon festival that used to be held at the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden in Owensboro. For years, as part of the annual Dazzling Daylily Festival, the Botanical Garden also showcased hot air balloons with Balloons Over the Garden. There were many on display and floating above the property. They even offered tethered rides above the gardens, but also rides that launched from the grounds and flew across parts of Owensboro.
Helping Hand of Hope launches Thrift Store to give neighbors positive shopping experience
Helping Hand of Hope rolled out a new way of helping neighbors in need this week as they launched their new Thrift Store. “The Thrift Store is actually an addition to Helping Hand of Hope that we have created in one of the extra areas that we have here,” said Helping Hand of Hope Executive Director Hope Burke. “We really wanted something for when our neighbors come in that really need an extra hand when it comes to clothing or accessories for their home that they were able to come in and actually afford the things that they were coming to get.”

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Wednesday! FINALLY, some beneficial rain for most of central and eastern Kentucky. The late night rain and early morning rain has exited but we aren’t done yet. Another round of scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms is expected. This is ahead of the highly anticipated cold front that will bring us a very refreshing feel for the end of the week. However, muggy conditions will remain with us on Wednesday ahead of the front. Though, temperatures will take a hit. Afternoon highs will struggle to reach the mid-80s for most, expect for southern and southeastern Kentucky where we could still reach the upper 80s and near 90.
