Dabo Swinney updates Clemson’s starting center situation, likes what he sees from Linthicum
Clemson is sticking with the centers they have after spring practice. Ryan Linthicum, Harris Sewell, and Trent Howard competed to replace All-ACC center Will Putnam, with Linthicum emerging as the starter. Clemson hasn’t released an official depth chart yet, but Linthicum has maintained his position heading into fall camp. “We considered adding someone in January, but after spring, we felt confident, especially with Matt [Luke] working with them,” Swinney explained. Linthicum, now a redshirt junior, has excelled in his role. Swinney praised his intelligence and conditioning, noting that he’s in the best shape since joining Clemson. Weighing 302 pounds, Linthicum is at his lightest since arriving in 2021. Swinney also highlighted Sewell’s improvement and Howard’s consistency, adding, “We feel good about the group. They’ve been very consistent.” Clemson will begin preparing for Georgia, with their season opener set for August 31 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Former South Carolina football rival throws Clemson Tigers under the bus
South Carolina football fans hate the Clemson Tigers, so it doesn't hurt any Gamecocks' feelings when they hear less-than-positive things about their bitter rival. This week, in an interview on the Behind the Facemask podcast with host Alex Okafor (a former Texas Longhorns player who now hosts a Texas podcast), former Clemson defensive back Andrew Mukuba talked about his decision to leave the Tigers and join Steve Sarkisian's Texas program. He had a couple of not-so-flattering things to say about his time in the Upstate of South Carolina.

During a trial run lasting several weeks at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg, the latest humanoid robot Figure 02 from California company Figure successfully inserted sheet metal parts into specific fixtures, which were then assembled as part of the chassis. Dabo Swinney disregards Clemson's lowest preseason ranking in a decade: 'Ain't nothing shameful'
Clemson checked in at No. 14 in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll, marking its lowest pre-Week 1 ranking in a decade. The last time the Tigers entered a year outside the top 10 was in 2015, and this campaign's mark is their lowest since they took No. 16 billing into the 2014 season. All of that is to say external expectations for Dabo Swinney and his program are as modest as they have been since Clemson's rise to national championship contention, but Swinney shrugged off the prognostications and offered a reminder that preseason polls are not always harbingers of things to come for his squads.
