MARTINSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Berkeley County community is grieving the loss of Curtis “Doc” Trenary, a respected member of the Berkeley County Assessor’s Office.

“Doc was a respected and valuable member of our staff and he will be greatly missed,” Berkeley County Assessor Larry Hess stated on Tuesday. “He’s irreplaceable. Doc was a very important employee to the function and day-to-day operation of this office.”

Born on October 28, 1959, in Martinsburg, to the late James Douglas and Juanita Jackson Trenary, Curtis Garland “Doc” Trenary was a multifaceted individual.

Besides his role at the Assessor’s Office, he was a master plumber and contractor.

Trenary also had a profound impact on the local sports community, serving as a Musselman High School football coach for over a decade and being part of the 1995 AA State Championship team.

His involvement in sports extended to motorsports, where he was the crew chief for a world championship team in the 2006 INEX Legends Racing Series.

Additionally, Trenary was a Freemason and a member of the Winchester Hiram Lodge #21.

The Berkeley County Commission expressed their condolences, with Commission President Jim Whitacre stating, “On behalf of the Berkeley County Commission, I want to extend our deepest condolences to Doc’s family and friends.”

Commission Vice-President G. Edgar “Eddie” Gochenour added, “Doc was one of the best.”
