    22 arrested in WV State Police drug sweep operation

    WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Nearly two dozen individuals have been arrested following a major drug sweep operation by members of the West Virginia State Police Martinsburg Bureau of Criminal Investigations office and Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force.

    The West Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations reports that, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, multiple search and arrest warrants were executed throughout the Jefferson and Berkeley County areas, leading to twenty-two arrests based on twenty-five indictments for sixty-three felony counts.

    The drug sweep operation came about as the culmination of an investigation dating back to May of 2021 which comprised multiple states and even countries, including West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, California, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.

    Investigators seized more than 1.5 ounces of fentanyl, 3.5 kilograms of pressed fentanyl, 4 kilograms of cocaine, 600 grams of heroin, one pound of crystal meth, 2.5 kilograms of black tar heroin, and 17 firearms, leading to the aforementioned indictments.

    Seized as part of the subsequent execution of search and arrest warrants were one ounce of marijuana, five ounces of cocaine, multiple Xanax bars, $4,000 in U.S. dollars, 200 rounds of pistol ammo, 50 rounds of .556 ammo, a drug press, and six firearms.

    21 of the 25 aforementioned indicted individuals have been arrested with one additional drug arrest having been reported in the aftermath as well.
