Berkeley and Jefferson firework events delayed due to storms
Independence Day celebrations at the Martinsburg Airport and at Sam Michaels Park in Jefferson County were canceled Saturday evening as a line of severe thunderstorms moved through the area. Forecasts early in the day had organizer and attendees hopeful that any chance of foul weather would hold off until after pyrotechnic shows were complete; however, severe lightning and heavy rains moved into the area earlier than expected.

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. — A Martinsburg man has been arrested after allegedly going into a local Credit Union, grabbing money off a counter and running. The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department said Daniel Keith Sandlin, 43, has been charged with bank robbery after the Thursday incident at the Martinsburg VA Federal Credit Union in Kearneysville.
