    BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ – The upcoming Berkeley Heights Township Council meeting on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 features the recognition of distinguished community members and the discussion of key local projects.

    • Laura Fuhro's Retirement : The council will honor Laura Fuhro for her remarkable 49-year tenure as the Children's Librarian. Fuhro has been a cornerstone of the community, fostering a love for reading and learning among generations of children. Click here for related article.
    • Eagle Scouts Honored : Maria DiPasquale and Sofia Maciejewski will be recognized for obtaining their Eagle Scout rank. This prestigious achievement highlights their dedication, leadership, and service to the community. Click here for related article.

    New Business

    • "Downtown Greenway" Project : The council will consider approving a grant application for the "Downtown Greenway" project. This initiative aims to create a pedestrian path from the NJ Transit train station to Springfield Avenue, enhancing connectivity and promoting walkability in the downtown area.
    • Pedestrian Safety Task Force : The formation of the Berkeley Heights Pedestrian Safety Task Force will be discussed, along with the Mayor's appointments to the task force.

    Additional Agenda Items

    • NJ Department of Transportation Municipal Aid Grant : The council will review the approval of a grant application for the 2025 NJDOT Municipal Aid Grant. The requested amount of $714,385.44 will be allocated for drainage and road improvements on Emerson Lane.
    • Waste Water Treatment Plant Resolutions : Several resolutions regarding the Waste Water Treatment Plant will be addressed.
    • Recycling Services Bid : The council will also consider going out to bid for recycling services.
