You have to have some physical ability, like good hand-eye coordination to keep a blowpipe spinning and stable hands to create precise details with a giant pair of tweezers. You have to be patient,...

Toledo man one of many parolees under supervision that go missing each year in Ohio
A Toledo man who was released on parole in January after spending 46 years in prison for aggravated murder has since gone missing twice, adding to the tally of more than 2,000 Ohio parolees whose whereabouts are unknown. Bret Vinocur, founder of Block Parole, an Ohio-based website that tracks violent criminals and their parole dates as well as information on missing children, said Michael Morris’ two bouts of going missing while under the supervision of the Adult Parole Authority are representative of a much larger pattern and problem in Ohio. “They are absolutely not watching them,” he said. “There’s like 2,500 guys missing.” According to Facebook posts from the Toledo Police Department, Morris first went missing April 29 and was subsequently located the next day. The post detailed concerns for his safety, noting Morris suffers from Alzheimer’s and walks with a limp.
Walleye reload on offense, look to build on defense in offseason recruiting
The Toledo Walleye will have plenty of offensive production returning next season as the roster continues to solidify this offseason. Six of the team's forwards from last season, including leading scorer Brandon Hawkins, are back in the fold. The half-dozen forwards that have been re-signed accounted for 49 percent of the team's goals last season. Toledo scored an average of 4.1 goals per game last season, the third-most in the ECHL. “We really liked our forward group last year and we've been fortunate enough to bring back as many of the key pieces as we could,” Walleye coach Pat Mikesch said. “It's a great way to start putting together the 2024-25 team.”
Kitto given life without parole for beating girlfriend's toddler son to death
A man convicted by a jury last week of fatally beating his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son will spend the rest of his days in state prison under the sentence a Lucas County judge handed down Wednesday. The life sentence without possibility of parole that Judge Linda Jennings gave Michael Kitto, 33, of Saline, Mich., echoed the request of Kelley McEwen, who addressed the Lucas County Common Pleas courtroom about the October, 2022, death of Declan Hill. “I have a life sentence without parole, and I hope Michael Kitto gets the same,” Ms. McEwen said after tearfully giving herself some of the blame for the boy’s death by having allowed Kitto into her Sylvania Township home. Evidence made it clear, Judge Jennings said, that Declan’s death was from severe, abusive blunt-force trauma.
