Oberlin Schools pull $22 million levy from ballot, new school still to be built
Oberlin Schools has pulled a $22 million bond issue for new school construction off of the November ballot, but the district said the project still will go forward. The Oberlin Board of Education voted during its meeting Tuesday night to have the 4.21-mill, 37-year bond issue removed from the Nov. 5 ballot.
Girls 7th Grade Volleyball beats Margaretta 2 – 0
Congratulations to the 7th grade volleyball team who won their third game of the season in straight sets defeating Margaretta 25-13, 25-20. Leading the way for the sailors was Caroline Riddle who finished off the Polar Bears with 2 of her 3 kills on the night. Cara Caffarel slated 10 service points, 3 aces, and 3 kills While Allonah Galvin added 3 kills and Ella Stout had 2 kills. Laycie Mahilo and Riddle both finished with 8 service points. A Great Team effort was had by all with great defensive plays by Ella DeWitt, Brinley Morrow, Makenzie Paine, and Ella Stout. The Sailors are back at it next week when they play back to back games Tuesday at home versus Bellevue and Wednesday at Port Clinton.

Horizon Science Academy in Lorain unveils new cafeteria, gym space
LORAIN — Horizon Science Academy officially opened its newly remodeled cafeteria and gymnasium after school on Thursday. The charter school, housed in the former Lorain Catholic High School building on Tower Boulevard, turned what was the pool room at the high school into a second gym, a cafeteria and three additional high school classrooms in use for the 2024-25 school year.
