BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Anjali Dahiya, honored earlier this month for her award at the 2024 of the Mayor's Arts Award for a student, uses her artistic abilities to help others.
Anjali was honored by the Bernards Township Committee in early July. The rising senior is the newly-elected co-president of the Ridge High School National Art Honor Society, according to the resolution presented to her.
At the high school, she has volunteered her time to paint a wall mural at the school media center, and has plans to use her position as co-President to integrate art into activities for her intellectually disabled peers at Ridge, according to the resolution.
Anjali also creates handmade greeting cards for Cardz for Kidz, an organization that distributes the greeting cards to uplift the spirits of pediatric patients, and donates birthday cards to veterans at the local Veterans Administration facility in the Lyons section of Bernards Township, according to the township.
She also participates in the annual Winter Market, where she sells crafts to raise funds for an organization supporting children in shelters.
"I fell in love with your art," said Mayor Jennifer Asay. She said Anjali's contributions make the community better.
