Windsor man faces charges for sex crimes involving young girl
WINDSOR, Bertie County —The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a Windsor man has been arrested and charged with sex crimes involving a child. According to the sheriff’s office, 73-year-old Harry Mann Jr. is currently in custody after admitting to engaging in inappropriate behavior with a 9-year-old girl.
Windsor man charged with sex crimes
An investigation by the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in charges for sexual acts on a child. Bertie County Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin said his office received a report on June 12 and the inquiry was led by Investigator R. Rascoe. “Investigator Rascoe interviewed the victim and parents,” Sheriff Ruffin said. “After interviewing the victim, the suspect voluntarily came to the sheriff’s office for an interrogation.” The investigation led to warrants being obtained on 73-year-old Harry Mann Jr. of Windsor. He was charged with first degree sex offense and indecent liberties with a child. Additional charges were added June 28. They were two counts of first degree sex offense and second degree kidnapping.
Plane makes emergency landing in North Carolina town, no injuries

BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. — Officials with the Bertie County Sheriff's Office says no one was hurt after a private plane made an emergency landing Saturday evening.
