Berwick, Pa. — The Community Giving Foundation of Berwick has awarded the Salvation Army Berwick Corps with a $13,000 grant to provide rental assistance support to local families. This form of assistance is an emergency safety net to protect families from eviction.

The Salvation Army believes that no family should have to choose between having enough food, keeping a roof over their heads, filling a prescription, or paying a utility bill. The grant funds will help the Salvation Army Berwick Corps to support dozens of Berwick area households.

Captains Michael and Jennifer Buzzard, Corps Officers for The Salvation Army Berwick, have served as officers in The Salvation Army for more than 10 years and have provided unwavering service to the Berwick community.

Captain Michael shared: "We are extremely grateful to the Community Giving Foundation for their continued support and commitment to the community. The funding is desperately needed in this area, and we are happy to provide it soon. Through valued partnerships such as this, The Salvation Army of Berwick can bring needed services and hope to those around us daily.”

The Community Giving Foundation manages over 350 charitable funds to improve the quality of life in the Central Susquehanna area.
