Students fight book bans during National Day of Social Action | Get Uplifted
TEMPLE HILLS, Md. — Young people across the national and here at home are getting socially active, and that is getting us uplifted. During the summer months, the Children's Defense Fund, which is based in D.C., holds summer schools across the country called Freedom Schools. The goal is to prevent the so-called "summer slide" and promote reading among students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Delontey Montario Butler Arrested On Open Warrants In MD
Delontey Montario Butler, 31, was arrested on Sunday, July 21, on open warrants for home invasion, first-degree assault, and other offenses throughout the region. According to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, the warrants stem from a 2023 incident when Butler allegedly barged into a Lexington Park home wielding a pocketknife, which he used to lunge at his victim before brandishing a gun and threatening to shoot.
