2 people injured in early-morning shooting in Bessemer

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Two people were injured in a shooting in Bessemer early Friday morning.

According to Justin Burmeister of the Bessemer Police Department, the shooting happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of 11th Avenue North. The victim was shot and is currently in critical condition while the alleged shooter was also injured.

Both people have been taken to UAB Hospital for treatment.

The shooting is under investigation.
