Moweaqua man arrested for solicitation, grooming
SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — On Friday a Moweaqua man had his first appearance in court on charges of indecent solicitation of a child and grooming. Braxton L. Jayne, 41, appeared in Shelby County Court on Aug. 30. According to court records, he was arrested on a warrant in another case.

Man gets 4 and a half years in prison for covering up homicide of Decatur woman
DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A man accused of helping cover up the murder of a Decatur woman has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison. The November 2020 disappearance of Norma Crutchfield led police to two suspects, 45-year-old Troy D. Slaw and 23-year-old Chase Freeman. According to a sworn affidavit, Freeman told authorities he helped move Crutchfield's body from a closet to a bathroom at Slaw's home that had been lined with shower curtains, window curtains and plastic.
Decatur PD hires new officers, prepares for training
DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Decatur Police Department has hired seven new officers and in the coming weeks the focus will be on training. The new officers will start 16 weeks next Tuesday, September 3. Training takes 16 weeks to complete according to Ed Culp, Director of Training at the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center.
