Special meeting held in Bethany Tuesday night as angry parents demand answers
BETHANY, Connecticut — To say parents are angry is an understatement, as a special meeting held in Bethany left them with more questions than answers. Dozens of town residents filled the Bethany Town Hall gym Tuesday night, demanding answers from town leaders for nearly three hours. Several residents directed much of their anger at First Selectwoman Paula Cofrancesco.
North Castle Landmarks Century-Old Barber Pole in Downtown Armonk
The North Castle Town Board voted to landmark a 100-year-old barber pole that stands outside a hair salon in downtown Armonk. Following a recommendation from the Landmarks Preservation Committee, the Town Board approved the designation for the pole in front of Manny’s Unisex Haircutting at 416 Main St. The request for landmark status came from the owners of the building, said Linda Fernberg, a Landmarks Preservation Committee member who addressed the board at its last meeting.
Harckham and Levenberg Announce $50K of Funding for Peekskill’s CHHOP in State Budget
New York State Senator Pete Harckham and Assemblymember Dana Levenberg announced today that they were able to secure $50,000 of funding in the FY2024-2025 State Budget for the nonprofit Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill (CHHOP), which provides a number of important services to homeless residents, veterans and survivors of domestic violence in the community, as well as helping residents facing food insecurity through its food pantry.
