Kinky Boots brings the sass to Lyric Arts Main Street Stage
The musical that launched Billy Porter into stardom gets a new production at the Lyric Arts Main Street Stage in Anoka. “Kinky Boots,” based on the 2005 British film, first opened in Chicago in 2012. Then it made its way to Broadway the following year, winning 6 Tony awards, including Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical for Porter, and Best Original Score for Cindy Lauper, in her first foray into Broadway (she was the first woman to win that category without a co-recipient).

It was one of the shortest-- and cheapest-- flights out of Minnesota that Sun Country Airlines ever offered. But it might be soon a thing of the past. It was nearly two years ago that Sun Country Airlines, Minnesota's hometown airline, announced that it was adding service from the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to Chippewa Valley Regional Airport in Eau Claire, Wisconsin (EAU). Those flights ran a whopping 21 minutes, a distance of just 85 miles, and were part of a $6.5 million annual grant meant to improve travel in rural America.
