20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park is accused of attempting to assassinate former President and current Republican nominee Donald Trump on Saturday during a rally in Butler County.

First reported by the Post-Gazette , it’s been revealed Crooks bought 50 rounds of ammunition at a local store hours before the shooting.

The rounds were purchased at Allegheny Arms and Gun Works on Library Road in Bethel Park.

Allegheny Arms provided the following statement to KDKA Radio: "As a responsible member of our community it is our prerogative to cooperate with law enforcement in every way. We are thankful that President Trump was not assassinated and our hearts and prayers go out to all victims of this horrible incident. Out of respect for the ongoing investigation and that of those affected we will not make any further statements."

Crooks had an AR-style rifle on him when he fired shots from the roof of a building around 150 yards away from the stage were Trump was talking.

Trump says he was shot in the upper area of his right ear. One man, a retired firefighter was killed and two others were wounded.

Allegheny Arms is cooperating with all requests for information.
