A Carbon County woman has been charged with attempted homicide for allegedly abusing her 2-month old infant.

Bethlehem police received a report in May from family members of Abigail Horn of Lansford who were concerned she was causing “significant harm” to the infant, according to Northampton County DA Stephen Baratta.

A police investigation found that Horn had been observed smothering the infant, as well as causing the infant to “scream and gasp for air,” Baratta said. On another occasion, she was allegedly seen squeezing the infant, causing the infant to scream.

Police recovered photographs that showed bruises to the infant, Baratta said.

Horn is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
