The Attica Prison Riot, also known as the Attica Prison Rebellion, began on September 9, and ended on September 13, 1971, at the Attica Correctional Facility in Attica, New York. An investigation is underway after a small plane crashed at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip on Monday, killing a pilot and passenger.The FAA says a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza A36 crashed near the end of the runway at the airport around 6:15 p.m.Suffolk County police say the small plane took off in the southwest direction and, according to a witness, was airborne and for some "unknown reason" attempted to return to the airport. 3 firefighters hurt battling 4-alarm fire that burned through Hunts Point business
Three fighters were hurt while battling a four-alarm fire that burned through a Bronx business on Tuesday.The fire broke out in the business on Tiffany Street in the Hunts Point section just after 12:50 a.m.Heavy flames shot through the structure.It took hours for crews to get the fire under control.Three firefighters were taken to Jacobi Hospital.
