MANCHESTER, KY - Manchester Police Chief Jeff Couch is reporting that MPD Officer Jared Smith arrested Brian Abner, age 40, of Manchester on Friday, July 26, 2024. Officer Smith arrested Abner when he was discovered with property in his possession that had been stolen from Allen’s towing earlier Friday morning and was attempting to pawn the property.

SCHOOL SPORTS: Fall practice officially opens Monday; middle school football kicks off this week
High School fall sports across the state of Tennessee will officially hit practice fields and courts on Monday, July 29th. In Manchester, the Coffee County Central volleyball team will be the first to get at it – hitting the court at 3:15 p.m. Meanwhile, Lady Raider soccer will work from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Raider Academy and the CHS football team will have its first full-padded workout at 4 p.m. at the CHS practice field.
Tims Ford gets 217K grant
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has announced a grant of $217,060 for Tims Ford State Park from the state’s Tire Environmental Act Program. Tims Ford State Park will provide matching funds of $54,265 and use the grant to install three separate porous pavement trails using recycled scrap tires. The project costs $271,325 and creates ADA compliant accessible pathways for guests of all abilities supporting Tennessee State Parks’ Access 2030 initiative to become the most accessible park system in the nation.
