Picture This: Drum Corps International
MARIETTA — Three students from Marietta High School competed in the All Age Class Finals of the Drum Corps International on Aug. 10 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. They were, from left, senior Cameron Bean, freshman Charles Bartlett and freshman Elijah Lopez. The three students joined the drumline of the Columbus Saints in late May. Bean played tenors and Bartlett and Lopez played bass. They competed in competitions in Ohio and in Evansville, Ind., before ending the season at Lucas Oil Stadium. (Photo Provided)
Jurassic Wonder makes a visit to the Mid-Ohio Valley
MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Dinosaurs made their way to Marietta. Jurassic Wonder is a company that travels around the eastern United States, bringing their dinosaurs to different venues for families to enjoy. You were able to see animatronics of a T-Rex, velociraptors, among other Jurassic creatures. A ticket for a car was $12, but you were able to see a multitude of animatronics.
How the drought has impacted a local orchard
MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - The drought has been going on for over a month now, with no remedy in sight. With the lack of rain, it raises the question: how does this affect our local produce? There are some farms in the area who have to use water from their city in order to care for their animals and crops. Hidden Hills Orchard uses an irrigation system to ensure their apple trees are watered and cool to ensure high quality apples.
West Virginia DNR floats idea of boat launch near Washington Works facility
PARKERSBURG — State officials are interested in putting a boat launch area down river from the Washington Works plant and wants the county’s support to do it. Officials with the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources appeared before the Wood County Commission on Monday to have a “preliminary conversation” about the idea. The officials were both from Charleston and Parkersburg who deal with fisheries and fish biology.
