(OLNEY) Tickets are now on sale for the Richland County High School Theater Department 2024 Summer Mentorship Performance of “Harvey” by Mary Chase. With only two shows set for Friday and Saturday nights, August 2nd and 3rd, starting at 6:30 each evening, at the Richland County Performing Arts Center at the high school in Olney. 2023 RICHLAND COUNTY REAL ESTATE AND MOBILE HOME TAX BILLS DUE
(OLNEY) A reminder from the Richland County Treasurer’s Office that the first installment due date for 2023 real estate tax bills is this coming Friday, July 26th, while Mobile Home taxes are due on one date only, Wednesday, July 31st, a week from today. If any questions about tax statements or more, call the Treasurer’s Office at 618-392-8341 or stop by the Courthouse Office in Olney, open weekdays, from 8:00 to 4:00. (2nd due date is 9/6/24)
THIS WEEK’S RICHLAND COUNTY FARM BUREAU RAINFALL REPORT
(OLNEY) In this week’s Richland County Farm Bureau rainfall report for the past week, with the reporting period ending at 8:00 this past Monday morning, the county’s highest total of rain was one inch & nine tenths (1.90) in Noble Township, followed by an inch & a half (1.50) in Madison Township and an inch & two tenths (1.20) in Denver Township. Then one inch & one tenth (1.10) at the Farm Bureau Office in Olney and also in both Decker and German Townships, followed by an inch even (1.00) in Preston Township and ninety-five hundredths of an inch (0.95) in both Olney and Bonpas Townships. The county’s lowest amount of rain over the past week was eight tenths (0.80) in both Claremont Township locations. Here at our WVLN-WSEI National Weather Service official weather station for Richland County, at the south edge of Olney, we recorded ninety-four hundredths (0.94).

Marion County Board on split votes moves forward on window replacement projects
The Marion County Board has voted 8 to 5 to move forward with a $400,000 window replacement project at the courthouse. The acceptance of the bid from Gardner-L and M Glass of Taylorville is contingent on the board finalizing a loan at its next meeting to pay off the project over a ten to 15 year period.

A Farina man is facing multiple drug charges in Fayette County Court. 58 year old Kent A. Keppler has been charged with multiple counts including Unlawful Possession of more than 15, but less than 100, grams of methamphetamine (Class 1 Felony), Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine (Class X Felony), Methamphetamine Trafficking (Class X Felony), and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor).
