Salem Police have arrested 65-year-old Jerry Russell of Glenwood Acres in Salem for violation of an order of protection and criminal trespass to property. Police say they were initially alerted Russell was in Bryan Memorial Park where he had earlier been banned. They later learned he was within 500 feet of a person with an order of protection against him. Russell was gone by the time police arrived, but he was arrested a short time later in a traffic stop. He was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a final decision on charges.

The Altamont City Council met for their regular meeting Monday and acted on a few different items. The Council voted to deny commercial use for 208A North Tenth St., in accord with the zoning board recommendation. They also voted to approve publishing of request for alternate proposal regarding sale of 107 North Main Street. The deadline for submission is Aug 8th at 9am.
