Daytime temperatures in San Bernardino often hit 100 degrees or higher in the summer months. The City of San Bernardino wants to remind its residents to stay indoors during peak temperature hours, limit outdoor exercise or work to the early morning or evening hours, stay hydrated - drink lots of liquids, use suntan lotion, keep your pets inside or in the shade with plenty of water, and most importantly, keep tabs on elderly friends or family.
Jay Rynda Assumed Leadership of Lake Arrowhead Rotary
Jay Rynda, newly installed President of Lake Arrowhead Rotary Club, has a background that includes 26 years in the United States Air Force (12 years of active duty and 14 years of reserve duty), followed by 27 years of service as a commercial pilot with United Airlines. He was born on a US Navy base in Guam, where his father was stationed. When his father retired, he moved his large family (Jay has six sisters and one brother) to Oklahoma when Jay was 10, and Jay lived there until graduating from Oklahoma State University.

Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Yucca Valley
YUCCA VALLEY — A traffic stop at Mohawk Trail and Sunnyslope Drive about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11, led to the arrest of William Findsen, 61, of Yucca Valley. Findsen is jailed at the West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of drug possession for sale. He is also being held on five warrants from Riverside County for sale or transportation of methamphetamine, possession of drugs, possession of methamphetamine for sale and driving while his license was suspended for driving under the influence.
