The snow gods have blessed the mountains in Southern California this year.

Big Bear, Snow Summit, and Snow Valley have posted near record-breaking snowfall totals for the 2023/2024 winter, and Snow Valley is expecting another few inches in the next five days according to Open Snow.

Big Bear and Snow Valley just wrapped up their season this past weekend, and they finished out with 175 and 201 inches respectively. These numbers are the second highest since they started officially recording snow totals during the 1999/2000 winter.

It’s also the second year in a row that California’s snowpack is above average.

The 2022/2023 season was the snowiest on record with Snow Valley getting 277 inches and Snow Summit and Big Bear with 243 inches.

February and March were the main catalysts for these mountains. February dropped 121 inches for Snow Valley and 99 inches for Big Bear and Snow Summit, and March provided 52 inches for Snow Valley and 47 inches for Big Bear and Snow Summit.

Snow Summit will continue operating until at least next weekend, according to their website .
