BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. (WBOY) — Three days of biking fun came to an end on Sunday as Bike Bash WV wrapped up its annual event.

This weekend mountain bike enthusiasts from as many as 17 states camped out at Big Bear Lake to talk with vendors, learn biking tips and enjoy the 50 miles of trail at Big Bear Lake. Event organizers said that around 800 people were in attendance.

Co-Director for Bike Bash WV Annie Simcoe explained that she and her husband have been running the event for the past four years since taking over for Dirt Magazine. She expressed her love of mountain biking, especially in West Virginia.

“I love the challenge of our technical terrain here where sometimes there’s a section of the trail that might be a little too hard for me today, and I might make it on the next ride or maybe not,” Simcoe said. “I love coming back for that challenge.”

Big Bear Lake is privately owned, so the trail system does not get any public funding. Bike Bash WV is one of the trails’ major sources of money.

Bike Bash WV first started in 2021 and will be back next year, two weekends after the Fourth of July. More information about the event can be found here .
