Conn’s Is Closing More Than 70 Stores In 13 States Including Georgia And South Carolina
Conn’s home goods and furniture retailer has announced it’s closing more than 70 stores across the country, including some stores in Georgia and South Carolina. The good news is, the Conn’s store on Bobby Jones Expressway in Augusta is not on the closure list. At least not for now.

The Eleventh Circuit, a federal court with appellate jurisdiction over the district courts in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, on Wednesday, declined to renew a lawsuit against SAC Wireless LLC by a crane oiler who was electrocuted and seriously injured while helping remove a crane from an American Tower site in Georgia.

$4 million investment to UGA Tifton helps bolster Georgia agriculture

Athens Academy invests over $4.5 million in campus improvements
Before school ended last May, Athens Academy began construction and infrastructure improvements across their campus. This summer alone, the academy, which was ranked the No.1 private school in Athens and Northeast Georgia, is investing over $4.5 million in order to provide students and faculty with the optimal tools and spaces for teaching and learning. The projects range from major renovation of Erwin Hall and construction of a new tennis center to the repaving of all campus roadways and most parking lots for the over 150 acre land.

WAYCROSS, Ga. (WALB) - An invasive species is moving upstream in the Satilla River, and it has the potential to move into counties here in southwest Georgia. Around 10 years ago, the blue catfish managed to make its way into the Satilla River. Since then, the fish have been damaging the river’s ecosystem by preying on native fish. This is the second non-native catfish species found in the river.
Diesel Fuel Spill Near Redmond Circle and Garden Lakes Boulevard
Rome police are asking that motorists avoid the area near the intersection of Redmond Circle and Garden Lakes Boulevard after a wreck between an RV and a dump truck spilled approximately 90 gallons of diesel fuel on the roadway around 10 a.m. on Friday. As of 3:45 p.m. those at the scene estimated the cleanup could continue into Friday afternoon. "We will stay on the scene and in command until all cleanup efforts are complete," Rome Police Department Public Information Officer Kelly Madden said. The Georgia Department of Transportation and Carter's Environmental were called to help clean up the scene and the Rome Fire Department is also assisting the police department.
Juvenile Justice welcomes new correctional officers
DECATUR – The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice held a graduation ceremony for 44 newly trained Juvenile Correctional Officer cadets recently at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth.
