Aiming to Lower Gas Prices, Feds Boost Supply in Time for the 4th
WASHINGTON DC - Gas prices could be about to get cheaper, just in time for summer road travel, as about 42 million gallons of gasoline makes its way into the fuel market. In May, the Biden administration announced that the one million barrels of gasoline in the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve were up for sale. Contracts were awarded to five companies, and barrels were sold at an average of $2.34 per gallon. The gasoline was released to the contracted companies as of June 30.
Case Against Pullman Stabbing Suspect Quickly Elevated to Attempted Murder
COLFAX - The case against the 38-year-old Pullman man accused of stabbing a Moscow man was quickly elevated to attempted murder. Cesar Marmolejos made his first appearance in Whitman County Superior Court on Tuesday morning after being initially arrested for 1st degree felony assault with deadly weapon. Shortly before the hearing the Pullman Police Department sent an amended probable cause affidavit to the Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office for attempted 2nd degree murder.

LCSC Baseball's Cabrera and Booth Make History as Conference Academic All-Americans
LEWISTON – Lewis-Clark State Baseball duo Brandon Cabrera and Carter Booth made history on Tuesday when the pair became the first Warrior Baseball players to earn CSC Academic All-American honors in the same season. 38-Year-Old Man Arrested After Stabbing at Pullman Gas Station
PULLMAN - Police in Pullman are investigating a stabbing that occurred during a fight outside of a convenience store on Monday. According to police, at around 5:00 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to the report of a citizen dispute at Sunset Mart on SE Bishop Boulevard. Multiple people were reportedly fighting in the parking lot, and one male subject was armed with a knife.
Researcher at University of Montana in Missoula Possibly Facing Federal Prison for Falsifying Records
MISSOULA - The U.S. Attorney's Office says a researcher at the University of Montana has admitted to charges of falsifying documents in a federal investigation. The defendant, Braxton Alan Norwood, 43, of Marburg, Germany, pleaded guilty on June 27 to a superseding information charging him with falsification of records in a federal investigation. Norwood faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and at least three years of supervised release.
Washington’s State's Population Pushes Past 8 Million
Washington state’s population eclipsed 8 million with the addition of an estimated 84,550 people this past year, according to the Office of Financial Management. The population was 8,035,700 as of April 1, 2024, according to annual estimates prepared by the department. It is the 13th most populous state, trailing Virginia and just ahead of Arizona, based on 2023 U.S. Census Bureau data.

LEWISTON - The Fourth of July travel period comes during the 100 Deadliest Days on Idaho roads - the summer days between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends when there is an increase in fatal crashes. According to preliminary data from the Idaho Office of Highway Safety, 31 people have been killed in crashes in Idaho since Memorial Day weekend this year.
Judge Lifts ban on Idaho Medicaid Gender-Affirming Care for Seven Suing Patients
For seven transgender and nonbinary Idahoans on Medicaid, a federal judge has temporarily blocked a new law that bans public funds for their gender-affirming care. On Saturday, federal judge Raymond E. Patricco, chief magistrate judge in the District of Idaho, issued a temporary restraining order that began Monday, blocking the new law only for the seven patients, who are plaintiffs in a lawsuit.
