3 grass fires burn 200+ acres in the Big Country

BIG COUNTRY, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) — Wildfire season is here, and there are three fires in the Big Country. Learn more about each fire below.

Short Post is located near I-20 and FM 2228 in Callahan County. As of 3:00 p.m. August 2, it is 195 acres wide and 95% contained. People have reported the smoke billowing over I-20, but no closures were made.

Hearbolt was a fire in southern Callahan County near County Road 202 and west of US 283. It was contained at 117 acres.

Crews near the Taylor/Nolan County line have battled the Fowler fire for a few days now. It is 72 acres wide and 100% contained.
