TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – Tye first responders worked two crashes at the same mile marker Friday afternoon.

An accident took place on August 2 in the center median of I-20 at the eastbound exit 277. As crews were working at the scene, a pickup driver failed to slow down and rear-ended a semi-truck. The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed, while the pickup driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Tye Police Department shared , “ This incident serves as a stark reminder of the rapidity with which accidents can occur… This event underscores the imperative nature of remaining vigilant on the road, as traffic conditions can change in a matter of seconds .”

The circumstances surrounding the second collision remain unclear, including the potential distraction of the pickup truck driver and their failure to perceive the deceleration of traffic.
