ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A driver accused of hitting and killing a bicyclist in Abilene then fleeing the scene has been indicted.

Luciano Tapia was indicted on an Accident Involving Death charge Thursday in connection to the incident, which took place on the 1600 block of S 14th Street in March.

Police say Tapia allegedly struck a bicyclist, only identified as a 41-year-old male, then fled without rendering aid.

Tapia was later identified by a piece of his vehicle that was left at the scene, according to police. He now remains held in the Taylor County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
