TYE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – At 2:15 a.m., the Tye Police Department responded to a crash involving two 18-wheelers and a utility service truck, all of which were engulfed in flames. The accident resulted in five victims, including an infant.

Two individuals are in critical condition, with one being airlifted to Dallas. Both victims suffered severe burns and trauma to their heads and bodies.

The preliminary investigation indicates that one of the 18-wheelers was parked on the shoulder of the 277 Westbound I-20 while the service truck was changing a tire. The second 18-wheeler veered onto the shoulder, colliding with the first truck and slamming into the service truck.

The truck that caused the crash was carrying a large K-beam for a bridge, weighing approximately 80,000 pounds, which was thrown about 200 yards from the crash site.
