1 dead, 2 injured in head-on collision in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) — A head-on collision in Jones County killed one person and injured two others, Saturday officials said.

The crash occurred around 9:20 a.m. on State Highway 92 about 4 miles southwest of Stamford.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a preliminary investigation found that a
2006 Ford truck was traveling eastbound on SH 92 with a 2024 Volkswagen, Taos SUV following closely behind. A 2016 Chevrolet truck was heading westbound on the same highway. The driver of the Volkswagen SUV attempted to overtake the driver of the 2006 Ford truck, leading to a devastating head-on collision with the 2016 Chevrolet truck.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, where the driver of the Volkswagen SUV, 21-year-old Madison Paige Stouard of Wichita Fallas was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Bladen Turnier of Fort Worth the driver of the Chevrolet truck was transported to Hendrick, North with non-incapacitating injuries in stable condition. In contrast, 34-year-old Cody Dixon of Wichita Falls the driver of the Ford truck was treated on the scene for non-incapacitating injury.

Further information released by Texas DPS was that weather and road conditions were clear and dry while all three drivers were wearing seat belts.
