    ACU bus crashes in Lubbock: Student, driver, coaches injured

    LUBBOCK, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) — Following the game between Abilene Christian University (ACU) and Texas Tech University, an ACU bus crashed in Lubbock, sending four to the hospital.

    19-year-old charged with DWI following ACU bus crash

    On Saturday, August 31 at about 11:45 p.m., a bus carrying ACU football players and coaches collided with a truck at the intersection of University Avenue and Marsha Sharp Freeway.

    According to a statement from ACU Football, two coaches, the driver and a student received minor injuries. All were transported to the hospital.

    Lubbock police later shared that the 19-year-old truck driver, Parker Young, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and is currently awaiting booking in the Lubbock County Jail.

    “We are grateful to Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt, their team physician Dr. Michael Phy, and all of the first responders for their assistance and care,” ACU Football shared in an Instagram post .
