    Counties in Big Country expecting more rain and floods

    ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) Throughout the weekend in the Big Country, most of the county saw a lot of rain. The San Angelo National Weather Service reported the inches of rain the Big Country received.

    Several counties in the Big Country are on flood watch and flood warning.

    List of cities affected by rain and flooding below:

    Counties on flood warning and watch:

    • Coke, Coleman, Runnels, and Scurry County are under flood warnings.
    • Brown, Callahan, Eastland, Nolan, Stephens, and Taylor County are under flood watch.

    Cities with inches of rain :

    • West and northwest of Cross Plains experienced 6.66 inches of rain.
    • Hords Creek Lake near Valera had 4.70 inches of rain.
    • Lawn 5 East with 4.69 inches of rain.
    • East Lawn experienced 4.69 inches of rain.
    • Lake Coleman near Novice at 4.59 inches of rain.
    • North of May, 1st Street experienced 4.57 inches of rain.
    • Coleman Municipal Airport is at 4.19 inches of rain.
    • Colorado River near Goldwaite at 3.84 inches of rain.
    • Cross Plains at 3.82 inches of rain.
    • South of 6 street in Clyde received at 3.44 inches.
    • Pecan Bayou at Highway 279 is at 3.36 inches of rain.
    • Southwest of Buffalo Gap collected 3.25 inches of rain.
    • Abilene is at 2.75 inches of rain.
    • Lake Brownwood near Brownwood received 2.69 inches of rain.
    • Early collected 2.61 inches of rain
    • Sweetwater is at 2.60 inches of rain
    • 4th Street southeast of Brownwood gets 2.20 inches of rain.
    • 11th Street east of Brady is at 2.17 inches of rain.
    • 6th street west of Bangs, 2.10 inches of rain.
    • Southeast of Santa Anna collected 2.10 inches of rain.
    • 1st Street east and northeast of Dyess Airforce Base received 2.00 inches of rain.
    • Hamby is at 1.99 inches of rain.
    • South of Hawley received 1.88 inches of rain.

    Last year, according to Statista , the national rainfall average was 29.5. Meanwhile, Abilene’s citywide average was at 15.88 inches.
